In the picture above there are two (2) previously drilled oil wells. The one on the right that has brown pipes connected to the white manifolds is being fracked. These pipes are carrying very high pressure water and sand from the trucks and is being pumped deep into the well. The high pressure water brakes up the shale rock and the sand gets wedged into the cracks and keeps them open. This allows the gas and/or oil to flow through more freely.
There was a lot of talk about Fracking in late 2016. So, the InfraSignal Radio crew set out to document an event. We found the active fracking site you see above in the Shreveport LA area.
We set up a Select-Alarm ground vibration monitoring site one mile from the fracking site and recorded ground vibrations for over an hour. We made this recording using a standard Select-Alarm Vibration Monitor & Alarm System. (See Shop)
One of the first things we noticed about the recording, was a constant rate signal after each strong fracking shock wave. It’s believed these are caused by the fracking rig itself, vibrating. This makes a fracking event easy to identify.
